Attending the Asia Pacific Career Development Association Hybrid Conference 2026 was both energising and affirming. With over 400 practitioners from more than 30 countries, it served as a powerful reminder that career development is evolving rapidly in an increasingly complex, AI-driven world.
I had the opportunity to present two papers, including one on Career Construction in the AI Era, in which I explored how individuals can take ownership of their career narratives through adaptability, storytelling, and lifelong learning. Across the conference, several themes stood out—moving beyond narrow definitions of career success, embracing inclusive career ecosystems, and recognising the critical balance between AI tools and human-centred guidance.
What resonated most was the importance of helping individuals make meaning of their journeys—not just preparing them for jobs, but equipping them with the confidence, curiosity, and resilience to navigate change.
As President of PCDA, I am excited that Singapore will be hosting APCDA Hybrid Conference 2027, centred on Enabling a Future-Ready Workforce
I look forward to welcoming delegates from around the world and continuing these important conversations together.
